MIDAS jointly organized a workshop focusing on HTA and Early HTA for medical innovation team from PTT Public Company Limited.

On August 5-6, 2024, Medical Innovation Development and Assessment Support (MIDAS) jointly organized a workshop focusing on Health Technology Assessment (HTA) and early HTA for a medical innovation team from PTT Public Company Limited. The event was led by Dr. Yot Teerawattananon, Co-director, Asst. Prof. Dr. Yi Wang, Co-director, and Dr.Teerawat Wiwatpanit, Research Program Manager. The MIDAS team played a key role in the workshop, aiming to give participants an understanding of HTA and early HTA principles and their applications.

Throughout the 2-day seminar, MIDAS experts introduced fundamentals of HTA methodologies, the process of developing healthcare coverage benefit packages, and reimbursement schemes. These sessions emphasized the role of HTA in ensuring that healthcare innovations are not only technically effective but also cost-effective, therefore benefiting both patients and the healthcare system. The PTT innovation team were guided through economic evaluations and technical skills required for HTA and early HTA processes.

A highlight of the event was the case study analysis using PTT’s innovations as case studies. The MIDAS team underscored the importance of conducting early HTA during the research and development (R&D) phases. This approach aims to enhance the success of emerging medical products by ensuring that they meet the healthcare market demands and requirements. The workshop provided practical guidance on developing medical products with a clear path toward future market success, reinforcing the value of early HTA in the innovation process.
